Science spotlights children's summer reading program at PV Library

Children ages 3-11 can sign up in person or online ( for the Children's Summer Reading program, Fizz, Boom, Read, beginning at 9 a.m. on May 22. To participate in the program, children must be registered by Saturday, June 28, and must have a library card (Yavapai Library Network).

This summer, the library offers eight programs on Tuesday mornings, with one Tuesday event taking place in the afternoon. Please meet in the children's library area, second floor, to get tickets prior to each program as there are only 125 tickets available per performance. Tickets will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tuesday, June 3, at 9:30 or 11 a.m., Wildman Phil returns with his entertaining and informative live animal show.

Tuesday, June 10, at 10 or 11:15 a.m. Eddie Siller, magician extraordinaire, will perform.

Tuesday, June 17, at 10 or 11:30 a.m., join Ric Fout for balloon art, reading, and storytelling.

Tuesday, June 24, at 10 or 11 a.m. experience the science of entertainment involving music, stories and audience participation with Tom and Shondra.

Tuesday, July 1, at 10 a.m. only, join us for the science of music with Sticks and Tones as they present creative music-making with a scientific theme.

Tuesday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m. only, Mad Science presents "Fire and Ice," a spectacular show of scientific exploration with dry ice fog storms, bubbling potions, and amazing chemical reactions.

Tuesday, July 15, from 1:30-4:30 p.m., Fun With Gizmos and Gadgets takes place with small groups designing marble ramps. All materials provided.

Tuesday, July 22, at 10 or 11 a.m., the Gurley Girls present a musical puppet show filled with the silly antics of Amelia, a caterpillar and a dog.

The Summer Reading program ends July 26. The Town of Prescott Valley, Friends of the Prescott Valley Public Library, Del Taco and Trader Joe's have provided donations for this program.
