P&R has full slate of sports classes, leagues; pool to close Tuesday
Mountain Valley Splash is open for rec swim Sat. and Sun. 1-5 p.m. On Monday, Aqua Aerobics from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. and Familiy night from 5-7 p.m. with two lanes for open lap swim. The pool will close for the season after Monday.

Golf Instruction

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department, in partnership with StoneRidge Golf Course, is offering golf instruction on Saturdays to boys and girls ages 6-17. Cost is $40. Session I is Sept. 6, 13, 20 & 27. Class for ages 6 to 10 will be 9 - 10 a.m. and class for ages 11 to 17 will be from 10:15 - 11:15 a.m.

Sign ups for this program will be at the Parks & Recreation office exclusively, maximum of 6 students per class. Registration deadline is seven days prior to start.

Fall Tennis Camp

Aspiring players ages 6-17 receive quality tennis instruction Oct. 6-10 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on the outdoor courts at the Bradshaw Mountain High School west campus. Cost is $30. Registration deadline is Sept. 29.

Central Arizona

Horseshoe Club

Meets each Tuesday at 8 a.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. at the horseshoe pits in American Legion Park, 8569 E. Yavapai Road in Prescott Valley. No prior experience is necessary to join. Free instruction is available to one and all, especially beginners. For more information call President Les Fillipi at 445-0603.

Adult Line Dance Lessons

Classes take place at the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arizona at 8201 E Loos Drive on Thursdays from 9 - 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25, Oct. 2, 9, 16 and 23. This program is ongoing and will continue with eight-week sessions thereafter. Cost is $32 for singles and $50 for couples.

Registration deadline is Aug. 28.



"Wheelchair Hoops" is a free program on Wednesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. at Coyote Springs Elementary School, 8101 East Highway 89A, Prescott Valley.

The activity incorporates open gym and basketball instruction for all participants including practice games. Call Jean Lasher at New Horizons 772-1266 for transportation assistance.

Day Hike

October 11 OR 12

Climbing about 1,800 feet to just below timberline, the Bear Jaw (Tr.26) Abineau (Tr.127) loop threads its way through aspens and avalanche debris on the north side of Humphrey's Peak north of Flagstaff. The hike is about 7 miles and views extend north to the Grand Canyon, east to the Painted Desert, and south to the summit of Humphrey's Peak, Arizona's highest point.

This hike is for ages 18 and up and will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11 OR Sunday, Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. Participants will meet at the Civic Center flag pole. This is a FREE activity, but space is limited.

Registration deadline: Oct. 6.
