Mountain View Baptist Church Gospel Concern
Mountain View Baptist Church will host a gospel music concert from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 395 Pony Place in Dewey. Take hwy 69 to Kachina, turn west to Pony Place then to the church. Enforcing codes, planning events all part of job
Gregory Arrington commutes from Queen Creek three days a week to work for the Town of Dewey-Humboldt where he wears two hats - Code Enforcement officer and Community Outreach coordinator.

When he came on board in July, Arrington said people told him the code enforcement in town was a standing joke.

"I think now a lot of citizens have embraced it," he said.

The nature of his job includes citing residents for unsafe structures, excessive debris, weed abatement, junk vehicles and abandoned buildings.

Eight years ago, Russ and Lori Dodge set about introducing young children to emergency personnel in a non-threatening way.

Safety Day at Humboldt Elementary School has evolved into a day in which local agencies demonstrate equipment and talk about how their jobs might affect students and their families.

A fourth-generation cowboy, Justin Scarbrough rode his first bull at age 6. Although a dwarf bull, it still weighed 900 pounds to his 50 or so. Now age 20, Justin rides bulls nearly twice that size in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).
