The third annual Dewey-Humboldt Cowboy Gathering and Western Heritage Festival takes place over four days, this Thursday through Sunday, in Dewey-Humboldt and Prescott Valley, as a fundraiser for the Dewey-Humboldt Historical Museum and the Lonesome Valley Wranglers 4H Club.
Beginning Thursday evening at the Grand Entry Concert, Don Fernwalt, Jody Drake, Buffalo Bryan Marr, John Bergstrom and Sid Hausman will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Humboldt, 3301 S. Highway 69. Tickets are $10 and available at the door and through www.PoetryCircuit.com.
Friday, a free official reception takes place from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Dewey-Humboldt Historical Museum, 12925 E. Main Street in Humboldt.
At 7 p.m., the evening show begins in Prescott Valley at the Blue Rose Heritage and Culture Center, 7200 E. 2nd Street (behind Ace Hardware Store), in the outdoor stage area featuring Janice King Deardorff, Slim Farnsworth, the Mountain Saddle Band, and headliner Susie Knight.
Knight is the 2013 Academy of Western Artists Female Cowboy Poet of the Year and the 2013 Western Music Association Cowboy Poetry CD of the Year winner. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for Dewey-Humboldt residents and $7 for kids younger than 18.
On Saturday, free sessions with all of the performers takes place at Humboldt Elementary School, 2750 South Corral Street, Humboldt, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local artists and craftsmen will display their work. At 2 p.m. Frieda Eswonia from the Clarkdale Yavapai Reservation will speak on the history and language of the Yavapai Tribe.
Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., back at the Blue Rose Heritage and Culture Center in Prescott Valley, J.P. Gorham, Jim Dunham and the Rusty Pistol Cowboy Band, Kristyn Harris, and Miss Devon and the Outlaw will perform outdoors.
Kristyn Harris is the 2014 Academy of Western Artists Female Performer of the Year, the 2013 Western Music Association Cowboy Swing Album of the Year winner, the top-charting 2013 Western artist in the nation, and the 2012 WMA Female Yodeler of the Year.
Miss Devon and the Outlaw are the 2013 Western Music Association Duo/Group of the year, 2013 Harmony Trio/Group of the year (with Kristyn Harris) and winners of the 2013 New Horizons Wrangler award from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for Dewey-Humboldt residents and $7 for kids younger than 18.
