Key contact, institutional knowledge describe 2 HUSD school workers

Sue Tone

Dan Streeter, director of human resources for the Humboldt Unified School District, introduced two main district office employees as June's Very Important People honorees at the governing board meeting June 10.

Streeter nominated Sonya Liadis, HUSD personnel coordinator, for her leadership, extensive knowledge and experience working with classified and certified staff. Liadis processes all employment documents, certification, background clearance, and professional development. She also creates the work calendars, contracts and agreements, and coordinates and presents the New Employee Orientation. She is secretary of the Meet and Confer Committee.

Streeter said Liadis has become a key contact in her position, especially since the district moved to an online employee portal program for contracts and benefits.

Jeannette Arntzen is another outstanding classified staff member. As the administrative secretary for the Special Services department, she is known for her collegiality and her institutional knowledge.

"Her experience and level-headedness have proven to be critical assets to the special services department," Streeter said.

Arntzen helps students and parents who come into the office, and assists the Special Services director, six school psychologists, the SSO counselor, the IEP facilitator and other personnel. She is a member of the Meet and Confer Committee and is a strong advocate for the classified employees, Streeter said.
