Special guests showed up at Lake Valley Elementary School to help kick off this year's Mac-Rodel Math Program.

Coach KC Rock brought the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University wrestling team to see if Mac-Ro students were smarter than a wrestler.

Students in second- through fourth- and sixth-grades paired off with the wrestlers to solve math problems in a rousing game of "Are You Smarter Than a Wrestler?"

After the game the wrestlers shared with the youngsters their own life challenges, their major area of study, and how important math is in their lives.

ERAU students followed up with a demonstration of grueling wrestling techniques and then a one-on-one round with students.

Ashton Dunn, a student in Mrs. Thompson's third-grade class and weighing in at 60 lbs, took down the largest Embry-Riddle wrestler, Jeff Routsong, 285 lbs.
