Meet Skyler, a sweet and outgoing 7-year-old boy. He currently lives with his single mom. Skyler is excited to be matched to a Big Brother. Skyler plays in a football league and wants his Big Brother to come to his practices and games. He loves football and his favorite team is the San Francisco 49ers.

George Williams, then 88-years-old, bought a motorcycle a few years ago. About a year later he conceded, reluctantly, that he might be just a bit too old to be zooming around Prescott Valley on his 650 Yamaha, so he sold it.

Native plants you can eat, grow
I wonder if the people who write books and articles about native plants, horticulture, and landscaping think of the Southwest as a "red-headed stepchild" because they rarely include plants native to our region, unless their work is focused solely on this area and its arid-adapted species. Yet Arizona boasts the largest flora of any other state except for three and those three all have coastlines and two of them are much larger geographically (California, Texas, Florida).

Meet Sammie, an engaging, happy, and easygoing 5-year-old. Sammie lives with his family that includes three siblings. His two older siblings each have a Big and Sammie now wants one to. Sammie enjoys coloring and telling stories. He likes to play baseball, basketball and soccer. He also loves a good joke and will share jokes with his future Big Brother.

Ian Isley, service manager at Affinity RV Service Sales and Rentals in Prescott Valley, is the 2016 recipient of the Duane Spader Leadership Development Scholarship, according to a news release. The scholarship, valued at $14,875, will allow Isley to attend an 18-month Spader Leadership Development Program.

Boys who are matched to a Big Brother are 53% less likely to be arrested than all other boys (14-17) - our volunteers make a huge difference not only in children's lives, but in taxpayer savings. All children are capable of success - and there are no exceptions. It is our job as community members to find a way to support all children in our community.
