The Titanic sets sail once again, but this time at Prescott's Hassayampa Inn courtesy of the Prescott Valley Rotary Club, and with Arizona's first governor, George W. P. Hunt (AKA Hunt lookalike Don Shields), as guest of honor.
Hunt, who was installed as governor two months before the Titanic's fateful voyage, said he wouldn't miss the 4th annual Savor the Flavour voyage, leaving at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2.
"I remember (hearing the news) as though it was yesterday," he said. "The Irish citizens in our community were devastated to learn of this freak accident that caused the unfortunate fate of so many souls aboard."
For this voyage, passengers wearing proper attire receive boarding passes for the appropriate dining area.
First Class passengers in the Arizona Room enjoy such exalted fare as oysters, Beef Wellington and paté de foie gras, while listening to a string quartet and a live auction.
In the Marina Room, a buffet for second and third class voyagers includes roast beef, salmon mousse, roast duckling and much more. These passengers can bid at a silent auction while Celtic musician John Good entertains.
All proceeds benefit Prescott Valley youth groups, including Rotary's RYLA and Interact programs, 4-H, Boy Scouts and CASA for Kids.
Tax deductible boarding passes at $100, $75 and $50 are available at www.savortheflavour.com via PayPal, or by check payable to: Rotary Club of Prescott Valley Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 26456, Prescott Valley, AZ, 86312-6456.
