Ian Isley, service manager at Affinity RV Service Sales and Rentals in Prescott Valley, is the 2016 recipient of the Duane Spader Leadership Development Scholarship, according to a news release. The scholarship, valued at $14,875, will allow Isley to attend an 18-month Spader Leadership Development Program.

"My APS work was just a gift," said Johnsen, who retired in April after 34 years with the company.

Renken, one of town's founding fathers, dies
Some original residents of Prescott Valley remember the late Ken Renken selling property lots back in the late 1960s, and are saddened to learn one of the town's founding fathers is gone.

Renken, 83, died May 6 in Kindred Hospital in Peoria after a brief illness.

Rotary Exchange Group enjoys whirlwind tour
If you think Rotary International's Group Study Exchange program is a glorified vacation, think again.

"GSE stands for 'get sleep eventually,'" said Caroline Fox, a member of the Australian group that visited Arizona this past week.

The comment elicited laughter from the other four members, but their itinerary bears out its validity.

Schindler's list survivor gives harrowing account
Leon Leyson lived through some of the darkest days of World War II, surviving the Holocaust with the help of Oskar Schindler.

Leyson, now 80, was 13 when he joined his father and brother at a factory run by Schindler in Krakow, Poland.
