Keira is waiting for a "Big" in her life.
Special to the Tribune

Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking adult volunteers to mentor children in our community. Boys who are matched to a Big Brother are 53% less likely to be arrested than all other boys (14-17) - our volunteers make a huge difference not only in children's lives, but in taxpayer savings. These 'at-hope' (as opposed to 'at-risk') children need parents and other caring adults to set high expectations and to provide opportunities in order for them to be successful. All children are capable of success - and there are no exceptions. It is our job as community members to find a way to support all children in our community.

Thirteen-year-old Keira is a Little who is waiting for a Big who is the right fit for her... is it you? Keira lives in Dewey. Her family has a variety of pets and farm animals, and she thinks it is fun to take care of them. When she grows up, she wants to work at a zoo. Kittens make her especially happy. The most important things in Keira's life are drawing and her family. She enjoys school and has been a peer tutor and has helped many kids at her school to become more successful. She likes to read for fun. She would prefer a one-on-one community match. Are you a mature woman in the Dewey area that would like to build a trusting relationship with Little Keira?

If you are ready to step up and support Keira or another child, and to join our elite and impactful group of Bigs, contact YBBBS at 778-5135 or go to www.azbigs.org for more information. This week, the YBBBS office celebrates being fully staffed for the first time in five years. Our staff is eager to help you determine if you would be suited for a one-on-one, couples, family, or school-based match.
