Special to the Tribune

The 35th annual Prescott Valley Days salutes America's Heroes, adds new exhibits and promises fun for the whole family.

Prescott Valley's signature event starts with a carnival on Thursday, and showcases everything from music to family entertainment, a big parade, carnival, vendors and a quilt show.

The Prescott Valley Rotary Club's Balloon Festival is back with 5:45 a.m. launches on two days and a balloon glow on Saturday evening.

The carnival kicks off on Thursday, June 13 and runs through Sunday, June 16. The popular Prescott Valley Idol competition will take place starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 14 in front of Tim's Toyota Center. Many talented singers who have qualified in earlier competitions compete for prizes and a trophy.

At 9 a.m., the parade, sponsored by the Prescott Valley Early Bird Lions, will begin. This year's theme is "A Salute to America's Heroes." The parade route will be on Florentine Road, beginning at Yavapai and ending at the BMO Harris bank parking lot.

The new Quilt Show, presented by the Lonesome Valley Quilt Guild, will begin at 10 a.m. inside Tim's Toyota Center, and at 11 a.m. the fun family entertainment and demonstrations begin.

Live music begins at 5 p.m. on the main stage with Bittersweet and followed by Road 1 South at 7:30. Road 1 South plays a great mix of blues and rock.

At 8:30 p.m., the Balloon Glow will begin along Main Street.

Sunday activities will kick off with the balloon launch at 5:45 a.m., and the carnival opens again at 2 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, arts and crafts vendors and radio controlled aerial and car demonstrations will take place at Barryfast RC Park in the Town Center.

Prescott Valley Days is once again centered around Tim's Toyota Center.

"This is a great venue incorporating the area around Tim's along with areas in the Prescott Valley Town Center making it one large festival area," said PV Days Chairman Steve Bracety.
