About 150 people attended the 2nd annual Hillside Recovery Program Alumni Group's recent picnic in Granite Creek Park.

This group of successful local residents sponsored this free event as a celebration of sobriety and as a testimony to the power of recovery.

The alumni have the common experience of completing residential and/or outpatient treatment for substance abuse at West Yavapai Guidance Clinic's Hillside Recovery Program.

The alumni group's president, Bud Culwell, was assisted by WYGC Director of Development and Communication Laura Norman in organizing the picnic.

National statistics indicate that one in four families in America has a family member who is struggling with addiction. And, children who are raised in a home with drug and alcohol abuse are at a significantly higher risk for neglect and reduced financial stability.

To learn more about WYGC, call Norman at 445-5211, ext 3403 or go online to www.wygc.org
