Prescott POPS Symphony to present 'The American Spirit - Celebrating Freedom' in Sunday concert
Special to the Tribune

On Sunday, August 4, the Prescott POPS Symphony will present a concert titled "The American Spirit - Celebrating Freedom" in the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center at 3:00 pm.

Throughout its history, the POPS has proven its ability to inspire patriotism in its audience's heart. The symphony will be joined by the Prescott POPS Festival Chorus to perform such classics as Battle Hymn of the Republic, the Armed Forces Salute, and God Bless America. Film music from "The Hobbit," M.G.M. and "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial" will stir the soul.

Music Director Paul Manz and Choral Director Darrell Rowader will lead this musical journey celebrating America's freedom.

A special moment will be during An American Elegy by Frank Ticheli. This piece was written in honor of the victims of the Columbine tragedy. The symphony will dedicate this very moving piece to the Granite Mountain Hotshots. Dan Bradstreet, Prescott High School orchestra director, has been invited to direct this piece.

Linda Rowader will sing the Star Spangled Banner as recorded by Sandi Patty.

Tickets are available from the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center box office at 928-776-2000 or at the door.
