12th annual Girls & Sports Day

The 12th annual Girls & Sports Day, empowering girls ages 7-16 to make positive choices and live healthy lives, takes place from 1-7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Prescott YMCA, 750 Whipple Street, Prescott.

Sponsors are North Star Youth Partnership and the Prescott YMCA.

Ages 7-9 can participate in gymnastics, karate and Zumba. Yoga, hip hop and an obstacle course are available to ages 10-11.

Offerings for ages 12-16 are tennis, volleyball and weightlifting. Cost is $15 and all girls will receive a backpack full of goodies, with dinner provided by Papa John's Pizza in Prescott. Scholarships are available.

Special guest speaker is Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Patricia Trebesch, on the topic of: "Aspire to Inspire."

Registration opened Aug. 5. Space is limited to 250 girls. Download a registration form at www.northstaryouth.org or at www.prescottymca.org prior to registering at the YMCA.

Pre-registered girls must report to the YMCA between 1-1:15 p.m. on Sept. 28, or their spot may be given to someone who did not pre-register.

Participants should wear comfortable clothes (appropriate for exercise), athletic shoes and sunscreen.

Bring swimsuit and towel for optional swim time from 7-8 p.m.
