This year's annual Book Fair at Prescott Valley School raised a record amount of money. The charter school sold close to $1,900 worth of merchandise during the event, far surpassing the previous high of $1,100.
Jody Dietzel, student council advisor for Prescott Valley School, said this was the first year that student council members helped to run the Book Fair, setting up the books and other items and taking shifts.
Prescott Valley School will receive a credit of $800 from the proceeds of the Book Fair, which Dietzel said will be used to purchase books for the school. In addition, she said, money was allocated during the sale that allowed each teacher to purchase books for their Title 1 students.
"The high school students in an AIMS tutoring reading/writing class were also allowed to pick out two novels," Dietzel said.
