Artist Tea at Windsong Villas Feb. 22

The Prescott Valley Art Guild will host an Afternoon Artists' Tea from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, to launch its new venue at Windsong Villas, 3386 N. Windsong Drive in Prescott Valley (the apartment building behind the Good Samaritan Society). The public is invited to join Guild members for light refreshments and art talk. D-H Historical Society Day of Art, History Saturday

The Dewey-Humboldt Historical Society will host a day of art, history and entertainment from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the D-H Historical Museum, Main Street, Humboldt.

The Arizona Rangers will present a PowerPoint about the history of the Rangers at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. A few members will be present in early period dress uniform and will bring along some of their antique firearms and a couple of their horses for anyone wanting to take photographs.

A Western Art exhibit takes place concurrently at the Museum featuring local artists Chuck Adams, cast bronze; Bonnie Casey, oils; Judy Kaufman, oils; Filmer Kewanyama, acrylics; Joyce Nelson, clay; George Phippen, prints from oils; Lynn Phippen, acrylics; Hardy Quade, oils; and Darrell Woods, welded metal.

The day's events are free, but donations to the museum are welcomed and appreciated.

Future Freshman Night at BMHS

Beginning at 6 p.m. in the main gym on Thursday, Feb. 21, future freshman can find out what Bradshaw Mountain High School has to offer. After the assembly, future students can tour the campus and learn about programs and opportunities at the school.

Call for artists for studio tour

The Prescott Area Artists' Studio Tour is now accepting applications for the 6th Annual Prescott Area Artists' Studio Tour Oct. 4 - 6. The Studio Tour is open to all artists in Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Dewey-Humboldt and the near surrounding areas.

This is a juried show and applications will be accepted until April 5. Entry fee is $150 or $125 if application is received by the Early Bird deadline of March 8.

You may choose to have your own studio, be a host studio with participating artists, or be included in another studio. Applications can be picked up at Mountain Artists Guild, 228 N. Alarcon, Prescott or download from their website: www.mountainartistsguild.org.

The 6th Annual Prescott Area Artists' Studio Tour is sponsored by the Mountain Artists Guild.

D-H Little League tryouts Saturday

Tryouts and late registration for the Dewey-Humboldt Little League will be Saturday, Feb. 23 starting at 9 a.m. at Quailwood Community Ballpark. Registration fee is $70 with a $5 sibling discount. Scholarship program applications are available. Online registration also is available at dhll.org until March 2. There is a $15 late fee added to all registrations submitted after Feb. 23. Learn how to achieve your Bucket List

A free, educational presentation on travel tips for seniors takes place from noon-1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, noon-1 p.m. at the Prescott Valley Christian Church, 7655 E. Long Look Drive. Anita Speed and Noeline Everett of Hometowne Cruise and Tour Center will cover group and single travel, cruises, how to stay safe and healthy while traveling, and how to accomplish your travel dreams before it's too late.

Health Faire March 14 at CASA

The Healthy Lifestyles Faire, a semi-annual event dedicated to the health of seniors, takes place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, at Central Arizona Seniors Association, 9360 Manzanita Circle, Prescott Valley.

There will be health and wellness screenings throughout the day, information, demonstrations and giveaways on health, nutrition and senior services. Raffle prize drawings will occur throughout the event, with proceeds supporting CASA's Meals on Wheels Program. The CASA Kitchen Cafe is open from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., offering a full lunch. Head Start enrollment underway

The Prescott Valley Head Start program is taking applications for the 2013-2014 school year for children ages 3-5. Head Start is a free preschool program serving income eligible families and children with special needs. It focuses on education, nutrition and health, and promotes family literacy, developmentally-appropriate, child-centered activities, nutritious meals and snacks, and medical and dental assistance. It is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Learn about reverse mortgages Feb. 21

A free, educational presentation on reverse mortgages takes place from noon - 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Prescott Valley Christian Church, 7655 E. Long Look Drive. Bill Binkey with Security One Lending will cover eligibility, regulations, and the pros and cons of reverse mortgages. Bunco and dinner at St. Germaine's on Feb. 23

The Catholic Daughters of St. Germaine's will host a BUNCO Dinner party at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, in the Parish Hall. You do not need to know how to play; we will teach you this very easy dice game. Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Dinner is Sloppy Joe sandwiches, potato salad, chips, desserts and beverages.

New art displayed at Good Samaritan Center

Artists with the Prescott Valley Art Guild are exhibiting their work at the Good Samaritan Center, 3380 N. Windsong Road, through mid-May. Featured artists are Sid Freeman, Shirley Bailey-Andrews, Antoinette Lee Howard and Sandy Cole, in several media including oil, watercolor, calligraphy and mixed media.

Quilt Guild meets March 4

The Lonesome Valley Quilt Guild will host Elsie Robinson, a 25-year resident of Prescott, originally from Minnesota, at its March 4 meeting. Robinson has been quilting for 16 years and has many gorgeous quilts to show off.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Mountain Valley Church of God, 8123 E. Manley, Prescott Valley. The meeting is free and there will be free refreshments.
