Community Notices

Low Vision Support Group facilitated by Jack Clevenger, meets from 2 to 3:30 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Samaritan Windsong Villas, 3380 Windsong Drive, Prescott Valley. This group is meant to address the emotional well-being of those who lose their hearing later in life. For information, contact Terri Roza at or call 445-5211 ext. 2672.

Humboldt Unified School District (HUSD) will be providing meals and snacks to students in Bright Futures PreSchool (BFPS) under the Child and Adult Food Program. HUSD assures the Arizona Department of Education, Child Nutrition Programs Office, that all children at the sites described on the application forms are served the same meals at no separate charge. HUSD serves meals to enrolled children at no separate charge at the time the Program application is submitted. All participants are served the same meals at no separate charge regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. Any person who believes that he/she has been discriminated against in any USDA related activity should write immediately to the Secretary of Agriculture, Washington, DC 20250. Meals will be provided to enrolled students at Bright Futures Preschool located at 6411 North Robert Road in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Blankets 4 Kids will be in front of Kohl's Department Store in Prescott Valley from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Saturday of each month collecting blankets, hats, scarves and stuffed animals for the needy kids in the quad-city area. Yarn is also needed for volunteers to make hats for the kids. Donation boxes are also at Kmart, JC Penney, Rowle Simmons Community Center, Walmart on Highway 69 and on Gail Gardner, Safeway in Chino Valley, Prescott and Prescott Valley, Kohl's, StoneRidge, Costco, VA Center - Building 15, Good Yarn Shop and the B4KS office in Prescott.

Franklin Phonetic School, a National Blue Ribbon school, is accepting enrollment forms for the 2013-2014 school year. Franklin School has been in operation since 1996. They are a K-8 program of a traditional nature with an emphasis on academics as well as the fine arts. Franklin School is a public charter school. There is no fee to attend. To obtain an enrollment form, call the school at 775-6747 or come by the school at 6116 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley.
