Valley of Lights open through Dec. 30

The 13th annual Valley of Lights at Fain Park will remain open from 6-10 p.m. through Dec. 30. Millions of lights comprise dozens of displays - both stationary and animated.

Create-A-Tree deadline tomorrow

The 11th annual Create-A-Tree exhibit at the Prescott Valley Public Library and Civic Center is a showcase available to promote groups, schools, organizations and businesses by decorating an indoor "tree" for display that will complement the outside lighting display. In past years participants made trees of ladders, umbrellas, paint cans, record albums, metal and hair curlers.

Submit an application at the town's website,, by 5 p.m. on Thursday. There is no entry fee.

PV Festival of Lights is Dec. 7

Prescott Valley's annual Holiday Festival of Lights takes place Friday, Dec. 7, at the Prescott Valley Civic Center.

Liberty Traditional School Chamber Singers will offer festive music from 5-5:30 p.m., followed by Mayor Harvey Skoog's welcome, and Children's Storytime from Chamber CEO Marnie Uhl at 5:40 p.m. Lighting happens at 5:50 p.m., and the Night Light parade starts at 6 p.m. Visit with Santa inside the Civic Center at 6:30 p.m., along with Create-A-Tree viewing at the Prescott Valley Public Library.

Parade entry fee, due by Dec. 3, is $25. Call Bev at 772-8857.

Clothe-A-Child seeks donations

The Yavapai County Shrine Club is hosting its annual "Clothe-A-Child" program in December.

This can only be accomplished through the generous donations of local businesses and individuals. School nurses from Mayer to Prescott identify needy children 5-10 years old. Help foster children with gifts

Yavapai CASA for Kids, Inc. is asking for the public's help in purchasing holiday gifts for foster care children. About 380 children are under the care of the Yavapai County Juvenile Court due to abuse, neglect, or both, as well as another 60 youth ages 18-21 who previously were wards of the court.

Christmas trees in several locations contain suggested gift items: Albertson's, 7450 E. Highway 69; Country Bank, 3044 Glassford Hill Road; Granville Community Center, 5643 Granville Parkway; and Yavapai County Health Department, 3212 Windsong Dr. Donors can bring an appropriate gift, unwrapped, back to any of the tree locations by Dec. 15.

Quilt Guild potluck is Dec. 3

The Lonesome Valley Quilt Guild will have its annual potluck Christmas party and food collection for the Yavapai Food Bank at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the Mountain Valley Church of God, 8123 E. Manley Drive in Prescott Valley. Bring a dish to share to serve six and non-perishable canned foods for the Yavapai Food Bank. For additional information, call Mary at 632-8760.

Faith United Craft/Bake Sale Dec. 8

Faith United Community Church will conduct its Christmas Craft and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 1061 Old Chisholm in thePrescott Golf & Country Club, Dewey.

Craft and gift items, plants, sewn goods, homemade breads, canned goods, wood products, bakery, holiday decor, jewelry, T-shirts, blankets and more. Pronghorn Ranch Craft Show Dec. 15

The first annual Pronghorn Ranch Community Craft Sale takes place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Pronghorn Ranch Clubhouse, 7051 N. Antelope Meadows, Prescott Valley (off Highway 89A and Viewpoint).

Crafts include unique items perfect for holiday gifts, such as handcrafted jewelry, pottery, woodwork, framed artwork, kitchenware, quilts, rustic shabby chic items, and baked goods. Marine Reserves collect Toys for Tots

The U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity created in 1991 to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute the toys as Christmas gifts to underserved children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. Toys that are collected in the area, stay in the area.

The campaign will run through Dec. 19.  

In Prescott Valley, people can drop off toys at: Prescott Valley Barber Shop, Sally B's Café, Bank of America, Compass Bank, Arizona Credit Union, Albertsons, Safeway, CVS Pharmacy, Colt Cleaners, Walgreens, Jackass Lounge, PV Chiropractic, Fire Station on Yavapai Road, Prescott Valley Library, Pronghorn Ranch Clubhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, Roberts Marke, Grayson House, Giovanni's Restaurant, Foot Work Co., Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Stoneridge Clubhouse, Blue Bird Café, L&P Barber Shop, PV Cycle Zone Marine & Auto, Scrubs 4 Less, Sleep America, A Yogi's Center-Varoopa Yoga.

Register now for Stocking Stuffer Bazaar

Registration is now open for booth space at the annual Last-Minute Non-Profit Stocking-Stuffer Bazaar, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Prescott Activity Center, 824 E. Jazz Society Birthday/Christmas party is Dec. 16

Christmas Angel Tree

Absolute Bliss Salon and Anytime Fitness are partnering with local schools for their annual Christmas Angel Tree. Last year they provided clothing and gifts for 90 students in the community. This season, they ask area residents to help provide for the increased number of children who need warm coats, clothing and shoes. For many of these kids, your gifts may be the only presents they will receive.
