Letter: Thanks to all who made Spelling Bee a success

Editor:

On behalf of our corporate sponsor BMO Harris Bank, congratulations to Daxton Bryce, an eighth grader at Granite Mountain Middle School, as the Champion of the 67th Annual Yavapai County Spelling Bee.

We would also like to recognize the accomplishments of Jordan Engelby, an eighth grader at Franklin Phonetic Middle School as the runner up, Sarah Lynch, a 7th grader at West Sedona Elementary who finished 3rd and Naina Misra a 4th grader at Bagdad Elementary School who finished 4th. 45 students participated in the bee representing district schools, charter schools, private schools, and home school groups.

Good luck and best wishes to Daxton and Jordan as they represents Yavapai County in the State Spelling Bee in the studios of KAET-TV on the campus of Arizona State University on March 23, 2013.

Special recognition goes to Camp Verde Unified School District for hosting the event. Administrator-in- Charge, Dr. Amber Lee and her staff were wonderful to work with. JoLynne Richter, our Pronouncer, has now voluntarily provided expertise to our bee for 29 years. A special thanks to the Bee Coordinator, Laurin Custis of the Yavapai County Education Service Agency, for all of her hard work and organizational talents.

We would also like to thank AAA, ACE Hardware, Armadilla Wax Works, Burger King, Costco, Cracker Barrel, Freedom Station, Fuddruckers, Home Depot, IHOP, Mountain Ink, Office Max, Peter Piper Pizza, Safeway, Sonic Drive-In, Staples, Taco Bell, Trader Joe's, Wal-Mart and Wendy's for generous contributions toward the County Spelling Bee.

BMO Harris Bank, with offices in Prescott, Prescott Valley and Sedona provide a significant financial contribution to support the Spelling Bee. Their financial support of our students and the communities they serve, along with a family friendly business environment is greatly appreciated.

Tim Carter

Yavapai County School Superintendent
