Editorial: Community may say goodbye, but it won't forget Norm Pariseau

Prescott Valley says goodbye this week to one of its most generous boosters.

If it benefitted his community, it was a pretty good bet we would see Norm Pariseau there, never to grandstand, but always pitching in to make sure everything went smoothly.

While he was a fixture at the Prescott Valley Days and Holiday Festival of Lights Parades, and at Chamber of Commerce events, Norm didn't leave his community service at those venues when he went home. The stories are myriad about how he helped people out, many times through his business, Norm's Lock and Safe, often not charging for his services to someone in need.

Through his service to the PV Early Bird Lions and the Chamber of Commerce, he championed small businesses and community members alike.

Norm fought a long battle with cancer, but he met each day with determination and a sense of humor. Those who knew him tried to prepare for the day they would have to bid him farewell. But, as one close friend said, "...you just don't get prepared for losing a Norm Pariseau."

Norm leaves some giant shoes to fill. We think he would ask all of us to step up and help to fill the needs in Prescott Valley, just as he did for so many years.
