Letter: Trash Thursdays possible for Yavapai County?

Editor:

Imagine if your friends, family members and businesses in Yavapai County picked up trash that others toss on the roadside and placed it in big, black trash bags every Thursday.

Imagine what it would look like if everyone were wearing a yellow or orange safety vest on this day.

Imagine if these big, black bags, now filled with trash, had a yellow ribbon in the handle, and these bags were left on display for four days as a message to those who litter our communities that we've had enough!

Imagine if this display became the awareness and education tool needed to restore the beauty to our communities.

Imagine if those who passed through our communities as tourists, potential home buyers and businesses would ask the question, "What's with all of those trash bags with the yellow ribbon?"

Imagine hearing, "We do this to show the pride in our community and to make our community more appealing to those who come here."

Imagine if those same tourists, potential homebuyers and businesses said, "We're taking your idea back to our community," or "We're moving to your community," or "We're bringing our business and jobs to your community because we see you care about what your city or town looks like."

Imagine if we could all agree that "Trash Thursday" is a good action plan and put it into effect immediately ... imagine if we could do this.
