In ladies team first-round play, host and No. 6-seed Phoenix Arcadia bumped the No. 11 Lady Bears 5-0 on April 24. During Friday's individual quarterfinal competition at the Paseo Racquet Club, Bears doubles duo Miller and Waidelich, seeded 8th, fell 6-1, 6-1, to Ironwood Ridge No. 1 Cody Petford and Ryan Knox. The No. 1 duo ultimately lost the state championship game 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, on Saturday to No. 2 from Notre Dame Prep.
Lady Bears doubles No. 5 Delaina Harris and Athena Bowman, after a slow start and a first set loss Friday night, upset No. 4 duo Janine and Jeunne Fernando from Sabino, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. That put them in Saturday's semi-finals, pitted against the No. 1 seed, Catalina Foothills' Rachana and Kirtana Bhat. The Bhat sisters lived up to their ranking by downing the Lady Bears 6-0, 6-1, and claiming the state championship 6-2, 6-4, over No. 2 Ironwood Ridge later that day.
