The Arizona Sundogs continued to hold off the Quad City Mallards for the Central Hockey League's eighth and final playoff spot after splitting a pair of games in Prescott Valley this past weekend.

The visiting ducks downed the 'Dogs 5-0 Friday night, but fell 3-2 to the host squad in a shootout the following evening.

Adam Russo suffered Friday's loss after stopping 23 shots on goal.

Saturday, David Brown got the win with 33 saves.

He got help from goal scorers Jake Hauswirth on a second period power play and Jason Morgan with the 2-2 equalizer in the third. Derek LeBlanc recorded assists on both goals, and came away with one of his own in the shootout, as did Hauswirth.

Mario Larocque also collected an assist.

Mallards 'keeper John Murray earned CHL Goaltender of the Week for his efforts.

Arizona now heads off on a 12-day, 5-game jaunt through Texas, Colorado and South Dakota.
