The Arizona Sundogs avoided a trio of shut-outs but suffered three losses - two by a single goal - on the Prescott Valley ice this past week.
Tuesday, the Denver Cutthroats started with a 2-goal first period on the way to edging their hosts 3-2.
Adam Smyth managed his first goal of the season with assists from Cody Purves and Karl Linden in the third period.
Purves knotted the score at 2-all with seven minutes remaining in the game, but Denver rallied quickly with what would be the game winner.
David Brown took the loss in goal, stopping 19 of 22 shots.
Friday, the Rapid City (S.Dak.) Rush handed the Sundogs their second one-goal loss by triumphing 2-1 on the annual Teddy Bear Toss Night.
Some fans misunderstood the plan, got excited and tossed stuffed toys for charity onto the ice after the game's first goal - by the Rush - in the second period. Rapid City would score again before the rest of the donors could toss their toys after the Sundogs finally scored in the third period.
Pascal Morency contributed Arizona's lone goal, his first of the season, assisted by Chad Langlais and Jeff Kyrzakos.
Adam Russo stopped 31 shots on goal for the loss.
Aided by Damian Surma's hat trick, the Rush downed the 'Dogs 4-1 on Saturday. Two of Surma's goals came on power plays, and the other from a penalty shot.
Kevin Petovello and Langlais assisted Derek LeBlanc on Arizona's only goal of the night.
Brown turned aside 37 shots in the loss.
The good news on the week came from the Central Hockey League that Jeff Kyrzakos earned the "Oakley Three Stars" second star award for November, finishing with six goals and an assist on the month.
The Sundogs play host to the Allen (Texas) Americans tonight, with puck drop at 6 p.m. A 5-game road swing starts Friday with the Missouri Mavericks.
