BMHS basketball girls victorious

Cheryl Hartz
News Editor

John Tobin's first win as head coach of the Bradshaw girls' basketball head coach came in the first game of the 2010-11 season with a 40-19 drubbing of Coconino in Flagstaff Monday night.

"It was a great defensive effort by all," Tobin said.

The Lady Bears leaped to a 20-4 first half lead and never let up. Tobin said all nine players who saw court time scored, led by Jessica Olivas with 11 points. Katie Rogge contributed 8 points and Jen Tonnemacher had 6.

Tobin, a 33-year veteran of coaching basketball, took over this year for former Bradshaw athletic director and coach Maury Ruble, who moved back to his home state of Iowa.

Bradshaw (1-0) next heads to Yuma to play in the Kofa Turkey Tournament Friday and Saturday.
