For the third weekend in a row, two hockey games for the Arizona Sundogs ended in identical scores. Unfortunately this time, rather than splitting the results, the Sundogs were on the losing end of both contests, as the Texas Brahmas won 5-3 Friday and Saturday night in Prescott Valley.

The Sundogs started Friday's festivities by retiring No. 29, belonging to former player and current assistant coach Chris Bartolone. But the game start was rough. Arizona was down 1-0 13 minutes into the first quarter when Jason Williams equalized, assisted by Tyler Butler and Billy Bezeau.

Mark Kolanos gave the 'Dogs the 2-1 lead halfway through the second period.

The Brahmas made it 2-2 late in the second before Williams finished Butler's shot with his second goal of the night to go ahead 3-2.

Texas tied on a penalty shot in the third period, scored again with four minutes to play, and finally, on an empty net when Arizona pulled goalkeeper Doug Groenestege in favor of an extra attacker.

Groenestege blocked 38 of 42 shots on the night.

The Brahmas grabbed an early 2-0 lead the following night, forcing the Sundogs to constantly play catch-up. The hosts narrowed the gap to one three different times in the second and third periods, but never led.

Managing goals for the Sundogs were Karl Sellan, Tyler Butler and Maxime Renaud. Joel Irving and Cam Keith recorded assists on the third Sundogs' goal.

First-year goaltender Bobby Jarosz made 27 saves for Arizona in his third start of the young season.

The Sundogs now embark on an 8-game road trip, starting with the Wichita Thunder Friday at 5:05 p.m. (AZ time). The game is live on KDDL 94.3 FM, or online at www.cattlecountryradio.com.

The Sundogs won't play at home again until Thanksgiving Eve.
