Hitmen youth football season is underway, home games Saturday
Prescott Valley Tribune

The Prescott Valley Hitmen Youth Football Club traveled to Glendale for spring season opening games against the Tempe Buffs, on a field overlooking the Arizona Cardinal's Stadium, where countless kids dream of playing some day.

The Mighty Mites (K-second grade) had a bye so the Junior Pee Wee team (third/fourth grade) started the day for the Hitmen. Hitmen defense set the stage, forcing the Buffs to into a four-and-out situation. The Hitmen proceeded to score on their first drive with a pass play and extra point, and never looked back on their way to a 43-12 victory.

The Pee Wee team (fifth/sixth-graders) took the field after the Junior Pee Wees. They faced the fierce Pee Wee Buffs, reputed to have one of the best defensive lines in the Pee Wee division. The Hitmen fought hard but the Buffs won.

Next up was the Junior division (seventh/eighth grade). The Hitmen Juniors are coming off a remarkable fall season, having won the AYSA North State Championships undefeated and then traveling to Ontario, Calif., to place fourth at Nationals. The Juniors continued their winning streak, dominating the Junior Buffs for a 33-6 victory.

The Hitmen will play at home on Saturday, March 22. Games take place at Bradshaw Mountain High School East Campus off Robert Road. The Mighty Mites play at 9 a.m. against the Phoenix Cardinals; the Junior Pee Wees play at 11 a.m. against the Anthem Sabercats; the Pee Wees play at 1 p.m. also against the Anthem Sabercats; and the Juniors play at 3 p.m. against the Chino Valley Roadrunners.
