Feet will do the work on this Tour de Pee Vee

Runners, lace up those road shoes because the 11th annual Tour de Pee Vee is Saturday, Sept. 21.

Sponsored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arizona, the event features half-marathon, 10K and 5K races, and a 2-mile Fun Walk that take in Prescott Valley's landmarks.

Race and start times are: half marathon 7 a.m.; 10K 7:30 a.m.; 5K 8 a.m.; and 2-mile fun walk 8:05 a.m.

Register online early at tourdepeevee.com, or in person the day before the race, Sept. 20, from 5-8 pm. at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Prescott Valley, or on race day between 5:30-6:45 a.m. at the start/finish area - east arch of the Prescott Valley Town Center on Main Street.

Entry fees before Sept. 3 are:

Half marathon $50; 10K $40; 5K $30; 2-mile walk $25. Fees go up $5 after Sept. 3.

Registration fee for students (elementary through high school) is $15.

All participants and volunteers this year receive a commemorative T-shirt. Fruit, bread and bagels will be available at the start/finish line, with drink stations (sports drinks, water) set up every 2 miles along the routes. Runners' names will be announced as they cross the finish line.

New this year is a Corporate Team Challenge for teams of 5-9 people. Registration fee per team member is $20 and $500 (team combined) collected in pledges. The team with the most pledges collected will be awarded the Traveling Trophy.

Also new this year is a cash prize of $250 to the fastest female and fastest male runners of the half marathon.

Last year's races drew almost 300 runners of all ages, with nearly 100 competitors in each of the three races.

Runners came from all around the state, and even traveled from California, Nevada, Washington, Missouri and Pennsylvania to participate.
