The Bradshaw Mountain softball team came out ahead on the week, winning both home games but losing one of two on the road.

After Monday's 18-8 drubbing of host Chino Valley, the Lady Bears added a 4-1 home win over Camp Verde Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Madison Rubio went the distance Tuesday, striking out 8 while allowing just 4 hits and walking two.

Bradshaw's trio of senior co-captains led the offensive effort. Kristen Jensen batted 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Karrah Stults scored twice while hitting 2-for-3 and Terra Stults went 2-for-3. Junior Shauna Coyne contributed a double and drove in one runner.

Friday in Flagstaff, Bradshaw fell 7-1 to Coconino. Terra Stults took the loss on the mound, giving up 8 hits and 5 runs in 5 innings. Reliever Rubio gave up 2 runs and 3 hits in the final inning.

Junior Chandler Schauwecker scored Bradshaw's only run with a homer to tie the game 1-1 in the top of the fifth inning. But the host Lady Panthers scored 4 in the inning's bottom half.

Despite the disparity in scoring, Coco out-hit Bradshaw just 11-9. Jensen went 2-for-4 at the plate, Dymond Balderrama was 2-for-3 with a double, and Lacie Denny also was 2-for-3.

"We were just unable to get a key hit with runners on base in scoring position," Bradshaw coach Janet Jensen said.

Back in Prescott Valley on Saturday, the Lady Bears downed Mingus Union 13-6.

Rubio again got the win from the mound. In 4-1/3 innings, she struck out 9 and allowed 8 hits and 3 walks. Helping her own cause, Rubio batted 2-for-3 and scored twice.

Terra Stults got the save after fanning one and allowing one hit in the remaining 2-1/3 innings.

Offensively, Karrah Stults was a perfect 4-for-4 with a triple, 3 runs scored and 4 RBIs. Jensen scored twice and drove in one with 2-for-4 hitting.

"This was a great team effort by Bradshaw with the entire team contributing both offensively and defensively," Coach Jensen said.

Bradshaw upped its record to 11-5 with Monday's 18-7 win at Camp Verde.

Terra Stults struck out 5 and gave up 9 hits in 6 innings for the win. She also contributed 2 hits of her own.

Rubio and Tia Randa had big sticks for Bradshaw. Rubio was 2-for-3, including a double and a homer, with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs, while Randa was 2-for-5 with a trio of runs and and 2 RBIs. Lacie Denny managed a pair of hits, as well.

The Lady Bears play host to Kingman tomorrow, and to Prescott next Tuesday, both at 3:45 p.m.
