The Bradshaw Mountain Bears upped their gridiron record to 5-1 to earn the No. 9 ranking in Div. III with a 43-20 victory at Flagstaff Coconino this past Friday.

The Bears clung to a 21-20 lead late in the fourth quarter, but then a Bradshaw safety sparked a surge that included two touchdowns in the final minute of the game.

Bradshaw picked up 190 rushing yards on the night, as Shane Sorrells contributed 91 yards on 26 carries with 3 touchdowns. Isaac Pena had 42 yards and a touchdown on 4 carries.

Jarett Cain accounted for 138 of the Bears' 187 passing yards, completing 11 of 18 attempts. Colton Audsley added the other 49 yards on one completion in 2 tries.

Casey Huntley came up with 70 yards on two catches. Augie Espinoza was the recipient of 47 yards receiving on two grabs. Nick Martensen caught the pigskin three times for 45 yards.

Defensive scores contributed greatly to the win. The Bears recovered a Coconino fumble in the end zone for a touchdown, and Angel Gonzalez picked off a Panther pass and returned it 32 yards for a TD with 37 seconds left in the game.

Bradshaw also earned a safety when officials called the Coco quarterback for intentional grounding in the end zone.

The Bears are averaging nearly 30 points per game going into this Friday's home contest against the Flagstaff Eagles.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Bob Pavlich Field.
