For possibly the first time ever, and definitely during coach Mike Simon's long tenure, Bradshaw Mountain cross country will not be represented at the state meet.

At Saturday's Division II Sectional Meet at Skunk Creek Park in Glendale, Bradshaw's girls placed 11th and the boys were 13th. The top 25 individuals and the top seven teams advance to state.

Cactus Shadows runners finished one and two, and winning time was Ethan Homan's 16:44. Cody Sharp paced the Bears, and with a time of 18:27, missed the medal cut by 18 seconds. He placed 34th of the 92 runners. Following him were: Tycein Chaney, 19:04, 51st; Saul Martinez, 19:05, 52nd; Randy Ayala, 19:47, 68th; and Satchel Clifford, 19:52, 70th.

For the 88 girls, Flagstaff's Tatiana Gillick turned in the winning time of 19:17. Desiree Woodruff led the Lady Bears. She placed 40th in 23:28. Athena Dias, 24:01, 48th; Hannah Madler, 24:10, 52nd; Erika Meza, 25:52, 70th; and Kyanna Bruhner, 28:11, 80th, followed.
