Lucky 13!

For the thirteenth year, the Town of Prescott Valley has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association.

The national award is the highest form of recognition in government budgeting. To receive it, the Town had to adhere to recognized guidelines for effective government budget presentation.

The guidelines assess how well the Town's budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

To receive the award, the Town was required to earn a Proficient rating in all four categories, and 14 mandatory criteria within the categories.

GFOA also recognized Prescott Valley Management Services Director Bill Kauppi as the individual primarily responsible for the award.

"Prescott Valley is proud to have earned this award for 13 years running. It shows the Town's commitment to sound financial practices," Kauppi said.

Mayor Harvey Skoog said he is proud of Prescott Valley's achievement.

"Accomplishing a readable and understandable budget document is very important. It is an honor when an outside agency confirms that this objective has been reached.

It also indicates a commitment on the part of staff to provide clear information to our constituents about the fiscal condition of the Town," he said.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit association serving more than 17,800 government finance professionals in North America.

The GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation recognition is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
