Education: Students win poster contest

Representatives of the Alta Vista Garden Club recently presented awards for the State of Arizona poster contest to members of Mrs. Hollis' art class at Granville Elementary School in Prescott Valley.



The first-place winners were Casey Fisher, grade 3, and Caitlin Colmenero, grade 4. Both winners chose to create artwork based on the Smokey Bear theme. Second-place winners were Lydia Poteat, grade 2, for her Woodsy Owl poster. and Sofia Grant, grade 3, and Ulises Calvillo, grade 5, for their Smokey Bear- posters.



At Mountain View Elementary School in Prescott Valley, second- place awards were given to Dulce Arellano, grade 5, and Alex Dickinson, grade 6, for poetry submitted with the theme of "Save Our Aquatic Friends."



Winners received special certificates from the State of Arizona.
