Goodwill Industries plans to branch out by building a store near Kmart here.

The Town Council tonight, March 14, will consider a final development plan for a 28,000-square-foot retail center south of Florentine Road and east of Lake Valley Road.

Goodwill could expand with an additional 7,450 square feet of retail/office space abutting the east side of the store, and a building of about 1,800 square feet near the southeast corner of the parcel.

The Goodwill site is zoned commercial; general sales and services with a planned area development, according to the staff report on the final development plan.

The final development plan that goes before the council is a step applicants take before going out to bid to hire a contractor and obtaining a building permit.

The council meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. today and takes place in the library auditorium, 7401 E. Civic Circle.

Also on the agenda are:

• A certificate of appreciation to Paula Ogren for five years of employment.

• A graduation ceremony for Citizens Academy participants.

• A proclamation on Arizona Gives Day.

• Appointment of George Stegmeir to the Planning and Zoning Commission to a term expiring Oct. 31.

• Appointment of Janet Lamb to the Personnel Board to a term expiring April 25, 2014.

• Acceptance of a bid of a maximum of about $589,809 from Earth Resources Corp. of Dewey-Humboldt for intersection improvements at Viewpoint and Long Look drives. The action also comes with an engineering agreement with Dava & Associates of Prescott for $51,080 for construction administration services.

• An intergovernmental agreement to create and participate in the Yavapai County Child Abduction Response Team.

• An executive session on a settlement with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
