The election for Marty Grossman or Matt Zurcher to fill a vacant Town Council seat is coming to the finish line this evening.

Voters who have not turned in their ballots have until 7 tonight to deposit them into the drop-off box in front of the Civic Center at 7401 E. Civic Circle or deliver them by that time at the Yavapai County Elections Department at 1015 Fair St., Prescott.

A total of 4,783 Prescott Valley residents cast ballots as of about 9:38 a.m. Monday, according to Town Clerk Diane Russell.

The election is by mail ballot only. Grossman and Zurcher are seeking a two-year seat.

Whoever prevails today will join Councilman-Elect Stephen Marshall as well as two incumbents who held onto their seats after the March 12 primary: Mayor Harvey Skoog and council appointee Michael Whiting.

The council will have two new members because Patty Lasker opted against seeking another term and appointee Don Tjiema decided against running.
