More than 8,000 colorful Easter eggs disappeared in a matter of seconds during the town's free egg hunts on the Prescott Valley Civic Center lawn this past Saturday during the EGGstravaganza event.

Children and adults also took part in the Seventh Annual Family Arts Festival where they enjoyed music performances, art exhibits, a petting zoo, hands-on art activities, and the painted chair auction that raised $1,450 towards art scholarships for graduating high school seniors.

Patricia Chalcraft, administrative assistant to the Arts and Culture Commission which sponsored the events along with the Town of Prescott Valley, said it was beneficial to hold the two events on the same day. Attendance was up from about 2,000 participants this past year.

"We would like to have had it outside," Chalcraft said.

Windy weather drove children and parents upstairs to the third floor where staff relocated the art activities, balloon artists and food vendors.

I am so glad the arts portion of the event was held indoors. The weather is usually not nice enough to warrant outdoor activities this time of year. I appreciated being able to get out of the cool wind!
