2 teens allegedly break into pool area to 'swim, steal food, have fun'
Prescott Valley Tribune

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Arizona - Two teenaged boys were arrested early Thursday morning when police found them at the Mountain Valley Splash pool when it was closed, a PVPD spokesman said.

Officers responded to the pool area, in the 8600 block of East Nace Lane, for a burglary alarm at about 2:30 a.m. and saw the two 17-year-old boys, who ran when police confronted them, Sgt. Scott Stebbins said.

The officers detained them and they said the wanted to go swimming, steal food from the concession stand and "have fun," Stebbins said.

The boys admitted they had smoked marijuana shortly before the incident, and police found both paraphernalia and a usable quantity of marijuana in their possession, according to a police report.

They also had duct tape, which they had used to cover security camera lenses, according to Stebbins.

The pair was booked into the county's Juvenile Detention Facility and charged with third-degree burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

The Prescott Valley Tribune does not identify defendants under age 18.
