Police on Sunday morning investigated the overnight break-ins of five cars in and around the Lynx Creek Apartments, an officer said.

The cars, all in the area of the 3200 block of North Majesty Drive, were targeted because they had been left unlocked, Officer Jake Lichlyter said.

He said very little of value had been taken from the cars. Although police have no suspects, he said the culprits were likely youths, and categorized the incident as "shenanigans."

Lichlyter noted that actual smash-and-grab car burglaries are uncommon in Prescott Valley, and that simply locking car doors generally convinces would-be thieves to simply move on to an unlocked door.

Resident Ted Edwards' car was hit. "I didn't lock it. They went through the glove box and the center console," he said, adding that the suspects did not take a computer printer or a box of movies he had left in the car.
