Police officers receive promotions at council meeting
Prescott Valley Tribune

The Town Council meeting started Thursday with a promotion ceremony for three police officers and concluded with adoption of a policy on electronic records.

Family members gathered for the ceremony in which Cpl. Thomas Grant was promoted to sergeant and officers Keven O'Hagan and Tony Lawrence were promoted to corporal. The three men have been with the department for several years.

The council concluded the 90-minute meeting by adopting a policy for establishing uniform procedures for retaining and disposing of email and other electronic records.

"We have a team that has worked very hard in putting together a records retention program," Town Manager Larry Tarkowski said. He said staff from the town clerk and Legal Department met with other departments to come up with the policy.

Also during the meeting, the council:

• Issued a certificate of appreciation to Utilities Director Neil Wadsworth for 15 years of employment, and library employee Kathy Gabraith for working for the town for 10 years.

• Adopted an ordinance to exempt the owners of service animals and search or rescue dogs from paying license fees.

• Reappointed Cal Nigh and Jim Pape to the Building Board of Appeals.

• Appointed Joan Adamak and Kathy Derry to the Library Board of Trustees.
