An alleged Prescott Valley domestic violence spree ended after a suspect who had allegedly taken a hostage into the bathroom of a downtown Prescott restaurant surrendered Monday, Nov. 19.

Taylor Anthony Calhoun, 23, of Prescott Valley was booked into Yavapai County Jail on felony charges including aggravated assault and kidnapping.

Prescott Valley Police had been searching for Calhoun in connection with several domestic violence incidents in the past two weeks and had put out an attempt to locate request on him with other local law enforcement agencies, Prescott Valley Police Sgt. Brandon Bonney said.

On Nov. 8, an 18-year-old woman told Prescott Valley Police officers and the PVPD Family Violence Unit that after she and Calhoun had an argument that led to dissolving their relationship the day before, Calhoun assaulted her, strangled her and threatened to kill her if she called police, Bonney said.

Prescott Valley police searched for Calhoun and put out the attempt to locate request.

Then on Nov. 15, the victim told police that Calhoun carjacked her as she headed home from Yavapai College in Prescott Valley, Bonney said.

"After a short time Calhoun reportedly burst out of the trunk of the vehicle through the back seat," Bonney said.

"The victim was scared and reported she attempted to pull into (a convenience store), but Calhoun reportedly grabbed the wheel and forced her to keep driving."

The woman eventually got away from Calhoun, called police, and said she feared for her life because Calhoun reportedly threatened several times to kill her if she was still talking with police, Bonney said.

Investigators learned Calhoun was in Prescott, and asked Prescott Police to help find him, Bonney said.

Prescott Police officers found Calhoun in a grocery store parking lot on East Sheldon Street around 6 p.m. Monday, but he ran toward North Cortez Street when he saw officers, Prescott Police Lt. Ken Morley said.

"While being pursued by police, Mr. Calhoun grabbed a 17-year-old around his neck and challenged the officers in front of the restaurant," Morley said.

"He then released the 17-year-old and ran into the restaurant locking the door behind him."

After Calhoun locked himself in a restaurant bathroom, employees inside the restaurant opened the front door so officers could enter, Morley said.

Officers spoke with Calhoun through the bathroom door for several minutes, then Calhoun, who was not armed, came out and was taken into custody, Morley said.

Calhoun was booked into the jail on felony charges of two counts of unlawful imprisonment per domestic violence, two counts of aggravated assault per domestic violence, five counts of aggravated harassment per domestic violence, one count of stalking per domestic violence, two counts of endangerment per domestic violence, aggravated assault, kidnapping, resisting arrest, and misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct.

Calhoun was on felony probation for prior domestic violence charges, Bonney said.
