, Jacob beat his previous personal best of 55 by 15 - and D. Peterson's record of 65 - completing 69 sit-ups in one minute.
Youth Chamber Blood Drive Thursday
The Prescott Valley Charter School's Youth Chamber Club will host a Community Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2. The Blood Drive will be held at the CASA senior center in Prescott Valley, 9360 Manzanita Circle, near the east end of Spouse Road.

American Legion to conduct Sacrifice at Sea service Sunday
The American Legion Gary Streeter Post #108 will conduct a Sacrifice at Sea service to honor "The Four Chaplains" at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Military Service Monument on the Prescott Valley Civic Center grounds. When the U.S.A.T. Dorchester was torpedoed in 1943 during WWII, four Army chaplains went down with the ship praying and singing after saving more than 200 lives. The American Legion honors these brave men and the events of that day on the 69th anniversary. A love donation to veterans will be collected. "Walk of Honor" Bricks are still available, as well.

Governor's address airs on Channel 13
The State of the State Address by Governor Jan Brewer at the Prescott Resort on Friday, Jan. 20, will be aired on Channel 13, ACCESS TV, Community Media Center, beginning Jan. 30 and running until March 3, Mondays at 1 p.m. and Saturdays at 4 p.m. The Governor's speech in Prescott is also available at any time on a computer at ACCESS 13 Videos on Demand service on our website, access13.org.

Training to begin for school board candidates
The Yavapai County Education Service Agency, in conjunction with the Arizona School Boards Association, has designed a training that will help those who have an interest in running for local school board seats in Nov. 2012.
The agencies have created a four-hour training block for newly appointed governing board members, and prospective governing board candidates are also welcome and encouraged to attend. Participants will receive a certificate of training upon completion.
The training includes discussions about the Open Meeting Law, board policies, ethical boardsmanship, governing board statutes, including the required and discretionary duties of board members, and some interesting "in basket" exercises to open further discussion about best practices.
The next training will take place from 4 - 8 p.m. on Feb. 16 at the Mountain Institute JTED District Office, 3003 Centerpointe East Drive in Prescott.

Country Club plans Spring Craft Fair
The Prescott Country Club Spring Craft Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, at the Prescott Country Club Property Owners Association, 1133 Old Chisholm Trail, Dewey.
Enrollment opens at Acorn Montessori
Acorn Montessori Schools is accepting enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year starting Feb. 20. Enrollment packets for preschool through eighth-grade may be obtained at 8556 E. Loos Drive, Prescott Valley.
Adult Literacy tutor training at PV Library
Prescott Valley Library Adult Literacy program tutor training is Feb. 15, 22 and 25 at the PV Library. Tutor trainees must attend all three sessions, totaling 12 hours, in order to be qualified to tutor.
The volunteer tutor meets with a student once a week and also serves those wishing to study English as a second language.
Registration is limited to 16 persons. Prior tutoring experience is not required.
