Tennis boys and girls beat Mingus; boys hold No. 2 rank

Both Bradshaw Mountain tennis teams triumphed Wednesday over Mingus Union. The Lady Bears shut out the Lady Marauders 9-0 in Cottonwood, while the Bears lost a lone singles match for their 8-1 victory at home in Prescott Valley.

Wednesday's winning scores for the ladies in singles were: No. 1 Delaina Harris, 6-1,6-0; No. 2 Sarah Peakman, 6-2, 6-2; No. 3 Cassidy Ball, 6-2, 6-1; No. 4 Athena Bowman, 6-3, 6-0; No. 5 Alyssa Turner, 6-2, 6-0; and No. 6 Cassandra Beswick, 6-1, 6-0. For doubles, the No. 1-3 teams, respectively, won: Harris/Bowman, 8-0; Ball/Beswick, 8-1; and Peakman/Turner, 8-1.

Thursday, the ladies pulled out a 5-4 at home against Flagstaff.

Singles victories came from No. 2 Peakman, Turner at No. 4 this time, and No. 6 Beswick. Harris/Bowman won at No. 1 doubles, as did No. 2 Ball/Beswick.

Individual results of the boys' match with Mingus were not available by press time.

Bradshaw's boys currently are ranked No. 2 in the state's Division II with a 7-0 record.

The Lady Bears traveled to Kingman yesterday, while the Bears played host to Kingman, both after the Tribune's press time.

The Bears will play host to the Page Sand Devils in a doubleheader Saturday, while the Lady Bears trek to Page.
