Prescott Valley moving to annex 135 acres in Prescott Country Club
Briana Lonas
Reporter

The Prescott Valley Town Council approved moving forward with the proposed annexation of 135 acres involving various property owners within the Prescott Country Club and the private Tapadero Waste Water Improvement District. The yes vote took place after a public hearing and will allow users of that private system to tap into the Town's Regional Wastewater Collection and Treatment System.

This action follows the approval of a memo of understanding with the Board of Directors of the Tapadero District to allow users of that private system to hook into the Town's system. The approval effectively eliminates a lawsuit that's been pending for some time, due to the state of the old package treatment plant, explained Community Development Director Richard Parker.

Parker added that it's a long-standing Town policy that properties only receive municipal wastewater services if they are annexed into the Town. Once annexed, the property owners will receive all of the benefits that any other Prescott Valley resident receives, to include code and law enforcement services.

In response to an audience question, Parker mentioned also that the annexed property owners' mailing addresses would remain the same.

Town staff began the annexation process by filing a blank petition last month, starting the required 30-day waiting period. Staff will gather petitions at the end of this month and prepare the annexation ordinance for the Town Council's consideration of approval.
