Recreational vehicle owners who face restrictions on where they park their RVs might have another option in the near future.

The Planning and Zoning Commission voted 7-0 Monday for a rezoning and preliminary development plan to enable Galpin Ford to create additional RV storage.

The P&Z action, which awaits ap-proval by the Town Council, would allow owner Greg Galpin to store RVs on 7.2 acres at his dealership on the west side of Highway 69, 300 feet north of the intersection with Highway 169.

Galpin said after the 15-minute deliberations that he would enable RV owners to rent the space on a month-to-month basis, or for a year in advance.

He also has existing RV storage on his property that predates the town's annexation of his land in 2004. He described the additional land as "like a big parking lot."

The new site for RV storage will contain screening and have a hard surface, planner Joe Scott told the commission.

Scott noted that nobody from the public attended a community meeting on the proposed rezoning.
