Prescott Valley car dealer seeks zone map change to allow recreational vehicle storage
Prescott Valley Tribune

The owner of Galpin Ford is seeking a zoning map change and preliminary development plan to allow recreational vehicle storage at the dealership at 920 S. Highway 69.

Greg Galpin seeks to change the zoning from C2 (commercial; general sales and services) to C3-PAD (commercial; minor industrial-planned area development) on 7.2 acres. RV storage is not allowed in C2 zoning districts, according to a staff report to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Staff tasked the commission, an advisory body to the Town Council, with determining whether the rezoning conforms with the General Plan update, and has recommended approval.

The commission scheduled a public hearing on Galpin's request for 5:30 p.m. Monday in the library auditorium, 7401 E. Civic Circle.

Also on the agenda are:

• A request for a reversionary plat to reconfigure property lines to accommodate the re-alignment of the intersection of Viewpoint and Long Look drives.

• A request from the town government to initiate a public hearing to amend the town code to clarify the use of temporary sign banners for businesses.

• A request to initiate a public hearing to amend the town code to clarify whether RV storage is permitted in C3 districts.

• A request to initiate a public hearing to amend the town code to clarify the definition of a commercial vehicle and associated prohibitions.

• A request to initiate a public hearing to change the town code to clarify that heavy commercial/minor industrial use districts bar mobile home and RV parks and other dwellings.
